Pay: £700–£1,000 per week – depending on experience and ability

JOIN THE ENGINE HUB TEAM

Engine Hub is expanding and we're looking for an experienced Vehicle Mechanic / Engine Technician to join our specialist engine team.
We specialise in engine removal, installation, repair and complete engine reconditioning for a wide range of cars and commercial vans.
This isn't a routine servicing position. You'll be working with engines every day – diagnosing failures, removing and installing engines, stripping units and working alongside our engineering team to rebuild and recondition engines.
If you're an experienced mechanic who enjoys proper mechanical work and wants to develop specialist engine-building skills, we'd like to hear from you.

THE ROLE

Your day-to-day work will include:
  • Removing and installing engines from cars and commercial vans
  • Stripping engines and identifying failed or damaged components
  • Rebuilding and fitting reconditioned engines
  • Diagnosing mechanical and engine-related faults
  • Replacing timing chains, cambelts, clutches, gaskets and seals
  • Carrying out cylinder head and engine component inspections
  • Preparing engines for reconditioning
  • Completing oil, filter and fluid changes following installation
  • Diagnosing vehicles before and after engine replacement
  • Road testing vehicles and carrying out final checks
  • Working closely with our engine-building and engineering team
  • Ensuring every job is completed correctly and to a professional standard

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for someone who has real hands-on mechanical experience.
You should ideally have:
  • Previous experience as a vehicle mechanic, engine technician or engine builder
  • Good experience removing and installing engines
  • Strong knowledge of modern petrol and diesel engines
  • Good mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Experience with timing belts and timing chains
  • The ability to work independently and solve mechanical problems
  • Good attention to detail
  • Pride in the quality of your work
  • The ability to work efficiently in a busy workshop
  • A full UK driving license preferred

Engine-building or engine-reconditioning experience is a major advantage, but isn't essential.
If you're already a good mechanic and want to learn the engineering and reconditioning side of the industry, we can provide additional training.

EXPERIENCED ENGINE BUILDERS

We are particularly interested in hearing from mechanics who already have experience with:
Engine rebuilding • Cylinder heads • Bottom-end rebuilding • Timing systems • Engine removal and installation • Diagnostics
Higher rates may be available for candidates with strong engine-building and reconditioning experience.
