Engine Hub is looking for a Part-Time Trainee Vehicle Mechanic / Engine Technician to join our specialist engine team in Kings Langley.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is mechanically minded, interested in cars and engines, and wants to gain genuine hands-on experience while working part-time.
The position could particularly suit someone currently studying Motor Vehicle Engineering at college, someone looking to enter the motor trade, or somebody with basic mechanical experience who wants to develop their skills.
Engine Hub specialises in engine removal, installation, rebuilding and reconditioning for cars and commercial vans.
You don't need to be a qualified mechanic. We're looking for someone with the right attitude, practical ability, reliability and willingness to learn.
What You'll Learn
Working alongside experienced mechanics and engine builders, you'll receive practical training in:
- Vehicle servicing and basic mechanical repairs
- Engine removal and installation
- Engine stripping and inspection
- Engine rebuilding and reconditioning
- Cambelts and timing chains
- Clutches and flywheels
- Cylinder head removal and installation
- Gaskets and oil seals
- Pistons, piston rings and bearings
- Engine measurement and component inspection
- Diagnostic equipment and fault finding
- Final vehicle checks and road testing
You won't be expected to know everything from day one.
As your knowledge and ability develop, you'll gradually take on more responsibility and learn the skills required to carry out engine removal, installation, diagnostics and eventually complete engine rebuilding work.

- Wants to develop their mechanical skills
No university degree is required.
Previous garage experience or a motor vehicle qualification would be an advantage, but is not essential.
Experience working on your own cars, motorcycles or other mechanical projects would also be useful.
A driving licence would be an advantage but is not essential.
