Engine Hub is looking for a Trainee Vehicle Mechanic / Engine Technician to join our specialist engine team in Kings Langley.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is practical, mechanically minded and genuinely interested in cars and engines to learn a skilled trade in a hands-on workshop environment.
We specialize in engine removal, replacement, rebuilding and reconditioning for a wide range of cars and commercial vans.
You do not need to be a fully qualified mechanic or have years of experience. We are looking for someone with the right attitude, good practical ability, reliability and a willingness to learn.
Previous mechanical experience, a college automotive qualification or experience working on your own vehicles would be an advantage, but is not essential.

What You Will Learn

Working alongside experienced mechanics and engine builders, you will receive practical, hands-on training in:
  • Vehicle inspection and basic mechanical repairs
  • Servicing and routine maintenance
  • Engine removal and installation
  • Stripping and preparing vehicles for engine replacement
  • Engine stripping and inspection
  • Engine rebuilding and reconditioning
  • Cambelt and timing chain replacement
  • Clutch and flywheel replacement
  • Gaskets and oil seals
  • Cylinder head removal and installation
  • Pistons, piston rings and bearings
  • Engine measurement and component inspection
  • Diagnostic equipment and fault finding
  • Final vehicle checks and road testing

As your knowledge and ability improve, you will gradually take on more responsibility and progress towards carrying out complete engine removal, installation and rebuilding work.

  • Is reliable, punctual and hardworking
  • Takes pride in doing a job properly
  • Is comfortable using tools and working in a workshop environment
  • Can work well as part of a team
  • Wants to develop a long-term career in the motor trade
A driving license would be an advantage but is not essential.

No university degree is required.

Previous garage, mechanical, engineering or automotive experience would be useful, but we are equally interested in someone with the right attitude who wants the opportunity to learn.
